Process route

Unit operations.

01 · Cryogenic air separation

Air is compressed, cleaned and cooled until its principal components can be separated by distillation. Xenon follows oxygen-rich liquid streams and is recovered downstream as part of a rare-gas concentrate.

02 · Rare-gas concentration

Adsorption beds remove hydrocarbons and other reactive traces. Controlled evaporation and rectification progressively enrich krypton and xenon while bulk oxygen is safely returned to the process.

03 · Xenon rectification

Dedicated low-temperature columns exploit the boiling-point difference between krypton and xenon. Stable pressure, reflux and thermal balance protect yield and product consistency.

04 · Polishing and release

Final getters and analytical systems reduce residual contaminants. Only released lots move to passivated manifolds for cylinder or bundle filling.

PROCESS CONTROL

Operating envelope

Distributed control, independent shutdown layers and analyser validation define the operating envelope. Operators review trends and abnormal conditions continuously.

RELIABILITY

Inventory protection

Buffer storage, duty and standby equipment, and planned maintenance protect rare-gas inventory through normal interruptions.
